Lowdown on Lyme at Ridgefield Library

Ridgefield Library and Lyme Connection host a community-focused panel discussion entitled “Lowdown on Lyme” at 7pm in the Dayton Room.

The panel will include Lyme disease specialists—Dr. Kenneth B. Liegner, MD, Dr. Steven E. Phillips, MD and Dr. Joann R. Petrini, PhD, MPH, Danbury Hospital Lyme Disease Registry.

Dr. Petrini will address the impact of tick-borne diseases in our community from her vantage point of conducting community-based research. She is the Director of Clinical Outcomes and Health Services Research Department of Medical Education and Research at Danbury Hospital Western Connecticut Health Network.

Dr. Liegner is a Board Certified Internist with additional training in Pathology and Critical Care Medicine with a practice based in Pawling, NY. He has been actively involved in the diagnosis and treatment of Lyme disease and related disorders since 1988. He will address treatment and the early experience of Lyme including common reasons why initial infection is missed. Dr. Liegner will also cover the symptoms associated with co-infections.

Dr. Phillips, a Board Certified Internist, practices in Wilton, CT. He is a Lyme expert who is frequently called to testify in government hearings. Dr. Phillips has authored and published research about Lyme disease in peer-reviewed medical journals. He will talk about Late Stage and Chronic Lyme and what happens to those patients as well as the connection to autoimmune disease.
